FAQ’s

My CCNSG card is due to expire! What are my options for renewal?

There are two options for renewal, but these must be completed BEFORE the expiry date on your CCNSG card, otherwise you will need to sit the full 2-day course again!

The options are:

  • CCNSG One-Day Refresher – a one day course offering a thorough review of the syllabus, with two paper based tests. This option is recommended for those seeking a comprehensive refresh of their knowledge.
  • CCNSG Renewal - Test with Revision – a half day course held at the SHE Knows Training Centre for those who are confident with the syllabus. Candidates will sit the computer-based test at the centre following a brief revision session with one of our tutors.

I have undertaken a 2-day CCNSG safety passport in the past but it has expired, can I do the 1 day refresher now?

No, sorry, you will have to attend the two-day course if your passport has expired.

How soon can I renew my CCNSG card?

You are able to renew your card up to 6 months before the expiry date, with the three-year extension being added on to the remaining time.

Can I complete the CCNSG Renewal (Test with Revision) from home?

All CCNSG sessions at SHE Knows are held at the SHE Knows Training Centre. This allows us to uphold the high standards that are expected of us by the ECITB. We also find that face-to-face training is the most effective, as it allows you to converse directly with the tutor with any queries. So, no you can’t do this test at home. Sorry.

Please come in your work clothes, we don’t want you crawling through our simulator in your nice gear!

I’m interested in the Level 3 Award in Environmental Management, how does this compare to the equivalent IEMA course?

Our level 3 course covers the same outcomes as the NEBOSH Environmental & IEMA course however, as it is work based, there is a requirement to provide work based evidence as part of your learning. E.g. an aspects & impacts register. The advantage is – you will not have to send an end of course exam.

I’ve started on a NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma but I’m not getting along with it, can I swap to the NVQ?

Absolutely you can! We know that the NEBOSH structure isn’t for everyone. If you’ve started down the NEBOSH path but are not getting along with it, we would be happy to discuss your options for converting to the NVQ instead. Depending on how much of the NEBOSH course you have completed, there may be the option to use your assignments completed as RPL (recognition of prior learning) as evidence towards your NVQ, cutting down the amount of work you will need to do to achieve the qualification. As this would also be reducing the amount of assessing we would need to do, this means we may be able to offer the NVQ at a reduced price – a win all around! Get in touch with us for advice & guidance.

Do I need to complete the NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety before I can do the Level 5?

Yes, you can, there are no prerequisites for undertaking an NVQ. We like to have an open & honest conversation about your job role & time available to learn.

Can I undertake an NVQ whilst I am in a non-H&S role?

I want to undertake an NVQ but have no mentor to assist me or provide a witness testimony, can I still enrol?
