This is the ideal qualification for those who are in the early stages of their Health & Safety careers, undertaking a supporting H&S role within their organisation. This qualification holds the same status and respect as the NEBOSH (International) General Certificate. If you find that you started on a NEBOSH qualification and that their exams are just not for you, you may want to move over to the NVQ level 3 to demonstrate what you have learned without sitting an exam.
Completion of the NVQ Level 3 Certificate will allow you to join IOSH as a Technical Member, providing you have at least 1 years’ relevant experience.
What does this qualification cover?

SHE Knows delivery methods for this qualification – we are different, not just your average training provider. At SHE Knows, we aim to concentrate on using work-based evidence for your level 3 and not assignments or written Q&A. The Assessors at SHE Knows are human assessors, not a computer platform or team of admin staff. We are all here to support you and chase and encourage you until you compete.
Our costs for the NVQ 3 Certificate covers all your assessment, registration and certification costs so that you concentrate on providing work based evidence; this means there is no hidden cost to you or your employer. No time spent visiting the assessor in their office or mileage payments etc. For best practice we will visit you at your workplace to undertake your induction and a workplace observation supported by a professional discussion tailored to the NVQ knowledge requirements. Your Assessors will continue to support you from our office, with you submitting your work electronically (email or dropbox) using tablets or even off your phone.
As we would need to observe you in at least one of the workplace activities listed below, your assessor can discuss this on first contact with you, but just to let you know that we prefer to opt for a site inspection and risk assessment review as it tends to be a normal, low pressure work activity!
- Risk assessing
- Workplace inspections
- Meetings
Time scales for completion of the NVQ level 3 does vary. If you are new to H&S, you will need to have time understand certain systems or job roles in your workplace, so this NVQ could take up to 2 years to compete the qualification. We just have to make sure you are not submitting out of date evidence due to any changes in legislation, best practice or old documents that have since been reviewed.
You can start at any time; once registration has been completed a work pack will be issued. On your initial contact/induction with your assessor they will explain evidence gathering and how to understand our workbook and filing systems. Our workplace assessment visits are our best practice solution for NVQ delivery; your assessor will be able to cover quite a bit of the knowledge evidence requirements through a professional discussion, so do make time for them, as it cuts the amount of future work you will have to do!
If you require a classroom taught session at your premises, or if you have any other questions, please contact us here.
If you do want to be supported with 2 additional visits, then an assessor will visit you at work (we’ll plan the sites and times with you) and they can then observe you and assist with portfolio building as you require.

Because the NVQ is about you, we are flexible about your sign up date and scheduling your induction. This will be organised by your assessor after your registration.
