National Vocational Qualifications – NVQs

These qualifications focus on the practical side of doing a task and doing it competently – by gaining the right knowledge, skills and experience.

Some of our qualifications have a stronger focus on one over the other. E.g. our C&G Electrical Qualifications (2391) are based on knowledge and skills, as they are classroom based with an electrical practical test, whereas the C&G Sustainability Certificate (6717-02) is purely knowledge based.

The Health and Safety qualifications level 3 to 6 are a combination of knowledge, skills and experience, as they require work experienced skill developed evidence (such as copies of risk assessments undertaken) as well as professional discussions, written accounts and copies of work emails demonstrating your knowledge of the workplace requirements and how they are related to Regulations. Where as the level 7 is a more knowledge based course encouraging you study to develop your skills.

ELCAS

SHE Knows are an approved Learning Provider with ELCAS, (provider number: 11386), allowing those who have served, or are currently serving, in the MOD to use their Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) as financial support towards our NVQs that are at a level 3 or above. Candidates must be a registered Scheme Member and have accrued sufficient services before submitting a claim.

Health and Safety NVQs

NVQs are the ideal path for many employees as they allow the candidate to complete their portfolio of work-based evidence alongside their day-to-day job. Since the H&S qualifications are evidence-based, this means no exams! Competence-based qualifications meant that candidates demonstrate their capabilities in line with the NVQ criteria as part of a portfolio which we help you build – we do not use a cloud-based platform or expect you to work out what needs to be filed under what section. We help you do that!

Assessments will take place with your allocated assessor to ensure that your evidence/responses are suitable. Valid evidence includes workplace observation, recognition of prior learning, examination of work product, witness testimonies and professional discussion, amongst other things. We are fierce advocates that your job comes first, and if opting for full assessor support, this means you can easily submit your weekly duties for your NVQ without a lot of extra faff and written accounts. If you undertake a workplace inspection send it over to us – if something is a little complicated to explain, then send us a voice message to explain it – you don’t have concentrate on writing paragraphs and getting your punctuation in the right place!

Once signed up, we issue our candidates with an NVQ Workbook which provides them with a “route map” to get through the qualification, making evidence collection straightforward and easy.

Our friendly team of assessors are there for the learner from start to finish, and are happy to give candidates a helpful nudge to keep the ball rolling to get their qualification done.

All of our assessors are highly experienced in the field of H&S and have been in the candidates’ shoes themselves so know what they are going through! They are available via email, WhatsApp, LinkedIn etc. to provide help and advice along the way.

Our experienced and qualified IQAs undertake regular reviews of the work being assessed to assure quality and compliance with the standards of the awarding organisation – this means candidates know they are being treated fairly and equally.
