Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment

During this blended learning course candidates will gain the fundamental knowledge needed to work on construction sites, including key H&S principles, identifying common hazards, and working safely with others. 

Upon successful completion of this award, you will receive the ProQual Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment certificate, which allows you to book the Touch Screen test and apply for the Green CSCS Card. (Please note that this is a separate booking and not included in the course fees)

As this is completed in your own time, this is ideal for those who are currenly working in construction and are unable to take time off work to attend classroom-based lessons. There are no set sign-up dates, you can start at any time. Your assessor will be in touch to organise your induction once we have received your registration form.

What does this award cover?

During this Award you will develop an understanding of key health and safety principles,
identifying common hazards, and knowing how to work safely with others.

You will:
✓ Understand and be able to be involved in risk assessments in the construction industry.
✓ Understand the risks to health from substances such as asbestos and drugs.
✓ Be aware of personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
✓ Understand safety signage on site.
✓ Understand the fire triangle and how this relates to materials that may be present on site.
✓ Know how to implement risk controls for safe manual handling.

SHE Knows delivery methods for this qualification – we are different, not just your average training provider.

What do we mean by blended learning? Upon registration, you will be issued with a SHE Knows workbook, which you will work through in your own time with assessor support along the way for guidance and advice.  While going through the workbook, you will be asked to provide certain bits of evidence taken from your day-to-day job to demonstrate your competence and knowledge. You will also undertake a professional discussion with your assessor, and complete some written questions and answers to back up your understanding.

Your Assessors will support you from our office, with you submitting your work electronically; this can be via email, Google Drive, WeTransfer or Dropbox – we have even assessed evidence submitted via WhatsApp.

SHE Knows would like to remind you that our ProQual approved Assessors are human assessors, not a computer platform or team of admin staff. The SHE Knows team will be there to support you if you call or email with a query or question.
