Hull and Humber Safety Awards
SHE Knows, Health and Safety, held their first ever Hull and Humber safety awards
and NVQ Graduation Ceremony, at The Guild Hall Kingston Upon Hull on Friday 6th
June 2008.
The most honouree of awards went to those students who successfully completed
the level of NVQ 5 in Occupational Health and Safety, an achievement that is
endorsed by the OCR awarding body. Graduates from all around the country
attended the prestigious awards ceremony.
A Health and Safety for Beginners (HSFB) website prize winner, Ian Thundercliffe,
was also honoured for his successfully achievement of NVQ level 4, and received
his OCR certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Practice. This award was
sponsored by SHE Knows Ltd.
A number of companies from the Humber region sponsored an award category.
Amongst these was The Humber Bridge Board, who kindly sponsored an award for
“Recognising Achievement with H&S”, and presented an award to the Learning Skills
Council (LSC) for supporting employment through H&S training. Graham Fullwood
accepted this award on the LSC’s behalf.
In 2007/2008, SHE Knows delivered an LSC H&S training contract to train, £220,000
worth of pure Health and Safety based qualifications. Over 250 persons achieved a
CCNSG safety passport, a prerequisite to employment within the power and
petrochemical sector along the Humber Bank. This training saw 130 unemployed
people gain employment, both on and off shore, after coming on our funded LSC
training schemes to also gain a second and third progressive qualification within
H&S.
With it’s undoubted success, the event is set to take place each year to again honour
those who have achieved an award status and to congratulate those Humber region
