Level 4 NVQ E.g. NVQ L4 Occupational Health & Safety Practice & NEBOSH Diploma.	Honours – Bachelors degree, Graduate certificates & Diplomas.	Level 6 Diploma in Management. E.g. NEBOSH H&S Diploma or Environmental Management Diploma.
	Intermediate – Diplomas of Higher Education & Further Education, Foundation degrees, Higher National Diplomas (HND).	Level 5 – BTEC, HND.

Level 3 NVQ E.g. NVQ L3 Occupational Health and Safety.	A Levels.	Level 3 Certificates – e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate, TUC Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.
Level 2 NVQ E.g. Competence Awards derived from the L3 NVQ in Occupational H&S.	GCSE’s & O Levels. Grades A – C. CSE Grade 1. Several 1 day courses run by Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, British Safety Council etc. E.g. Food Hygiene, Risk Assessment.
Level 1 NVQ	GCSE’s Grades D – G, CSE’s Grade 2 – 4.
Entry	Entry Level Certificate.

All NVQ gain 20 CPD points.
The H&S Level 5 NVQ has units taken directly out of MSc courses – a selection from finance, HR and Training based subjects. It also has some units drawn from the NVQ Level 4 in H&S. In most cases these can be cross referenced from a previously gained qualification so reducing the amount of evidence needed to supply.
IOSH only count the NVQ Level 5 for CPD points as it is not considered a Practitioners qualification. The H&S NVQ Level 4 is the Practitioners qualification, accepted by IOSH as a route to membership.
